A few weeks ago I turned 33. It’s weird to write that. 33 seems like such an old number. I still feel like I’m in my early 20s! Every year my age feels more distant to me. Like…am I really 33? I just can’t believe it.

In honor of my new age…I’ve come up with 3 goals. (because there’s no way I could accomplish 33 goals!)

1. Eat 101 salads. I love Mark Bittman and I’m so inspired by this list of salads. Each salad takes 20 minutes or less and offers enough variety that I won’t get bored. It will help me to eat healthier, bring my lunch to work more, and sort of cook since I’ve pretty much stopped cooking since having Emma. I also want to try buying the ingredients for my salad at the local farmer’s market each week.

tomato, watermelon, basil, goat cheese, and vinaigrette

2. Start a Project Life scrapbook. Watching the video is probably easier than having me explain it. I’ve been reading a lot of bloggers who do Project Life and love it and it really got me excited. Especially this blogger. Her PL spreads are so amazing! I really wanted a way to capture photos for Emma. I remember flipping through my family’s photo albums and how fun it is to reminisce. So much better than looking at photos on the computer! And this method of scrapbooking seems very straightforward and not as time consuming as a typical scrapbook. I’ve already ordered my binder and pocket protectors. I’m actually going to do one focused on Emma’s first year and if I like it a lot I may start another one in January focused more on our whole family. I would love to do an album for every year but that may be too ambitious. Anyways, I can’t wait to start!

3. Open an etsy store. I’ve had a lot of ideas of what to sell but I’ve never actually gone and tried to sell anything. Even if it’s just one product and nobody buys it, I would like to open up an Etsy shop before I turn 34.

Aside from these physical goals…I also want to remind myself to try to better myself always. I need to be more patient. To enjoy each moment in the present. To love and cherish boyrobot and babybot to the fullest. To appreciate my parents who are aging way too fast. To become braver and make new friends. And to be more genuine and thoughtful towards all relationships in my life.

And because these pics made my day…random photos of Emma!

I love lists. And I especially love FOOD LISTS! I am totally saving this next one I found called 50 Meals to Eat in 50 States Before the Apocalypse

Sadly, I have only eaten at ONE of these places and that is Lotus of Siam in Nevada. Which is reallllly good!

My top restaurant that I want to eat at is also on here representing California: The French Laundry. Oh one day you will be in my tummy!

And I can’t believe this but I have never eaten or heard of the pick for Oklahoma which is where I was born and raised for 18 years: Ike’s Chili

What state do you live in? And do you agree with their pick?

I know I know, that movie The Bucket List looks cheesy, but I love the concept! I’ve decided to add a new category called the “bucket list” which consists of things I want to do. I will continue to add to it from here on out. Most items on my to do list are usually to travel/see something. I want to do a mini-profile on places I discover and add them to my bucket list as a must see!

The Wave, Arizona

I actually can’t believe I’ve been to Arizona several times and completely missed out on this place! I’ve seen Sedona, Grand Canyon, and even Antelope Canyon (which was beautiful by the way!). Thinking about all of these places makes me realize what a scenic state Arizona is! Definitely a must see in the US.

What is it: a sandstone formation on the slopes of the Coyote Buttes in northern Arizona

How to get to there: a 3 mile hike (6 miles roundtrip) with no trails and only 350 ft of elevation (very doable!). Since there are no trails it is best to talk to the park rangers on recommended routes.

Best time to go: early in the morning when it’s cooler and avoid summers where the temperature can reach 100+. yeah, I remember the heat in Arizona is unbearable! Some say October is the best month when there is light rain and unique photo opportunities with pools of water.

Permits: Only 20 permits are allowed access to the Coyote Buttes a day because of their fragile nature! 10 reservations can be made in advance, while the other 10 are given out the day of in a lottery which takes place at 9am.

Pictures: This is definitely a picturesque place and you don’t want to leave your camera behind. The best time to take pictures is midday when there are no shadows in the center, though striking photos can be had at any time. Best photos are supposedly taken at the north unit.

Check out these amazing pictures of The Wave

This just goes to show you that there are still some places in the US that are worth seeing.
