2 Years In Prison

I thought this was an interesting read…supposedly it’s true…but you never know with the internet right? A man goes to prison for two years, then returns to a thread he started on 99chan to answer questions about it. He goes into quite a bit of detail that’s probably not really safe to read at work. It’s extremely long, but I was kind of fascinated reading it hearing about jail from the inside.

Wow that’s the craziest thing I’ve ever read. It really sounds horrible. I honestly couldn’t tell if that was truthful though. Some things really did sound like it could be fabricated. They make the prison sound horrible, I think though that’s not all prisons, as the OP points out.

I know how japanese prisons are, only because as a corpsman in the navy, we would have to visit the marines to make sure they’re healthy each month. I’ve never been to visit a marine personally, but friend described the prisons and wow. we’ve got nothing on some of those prisons. It’s how prison should be i think.

Scary stuff.

I don’t know, I have a pretty strong nose for internet bullshit, and that thing certainly had the patina of authenticity to it. Some things might have been exaggerated, sure, but only the sort of exaggerating one does about something one really did, not the “make shit up” kind. But yes, a truly fascinating read. I spent all morning on it.

As for Japanese prisons, white guys definitely have a different experience than the Yaks or the drug dealers. A friend of mine was in Osaka Pen for getting mailed weed, and most of them time the guards just found it amusing that a college professor would be in prison, and would be very polite (they actually called him Professor). But real prisoners in Japan have almost no rights, so you can be put in ad seg for MONTHS with no means of appeal or review or anything. So its not all smiles and sunshine.
