Highlights Of 2008

Can you believe I’ve been having so much fun at home that I’ve sort of forgotten about this blog? Well I’m on vacation so it’s ok. :) Anyways, I thought I’d stop in and do a little recap of 2008.

Things I remember most about 2008:

  • Twilight: Yes, I was one of those twihards. I read through the books and developed the biggest fictional crush ever on Edward. My cousin even got me this bookmark for christmas ha ha.
  • Obama: We saw history made. The first African American president! I, along with others, actually got excited about politics. It was pretty cool to witness.
  • The Office: Out of all of the tv shows I watch, this one never disappoints me (Heroes anyone?). I spent many months this year trying to catch up on this show. I have about 4 episodes left of season 4. Love this show!!
  • Toronto/Niagara Falls: I just realized this is the only real vacation I took this year. Niagara Falls is beautiful and I’m glad I saw it with my good friends!
  • Florida: I spent many weeks here for work, and will actually spend more in 2009. I think I like it a lot more now that the weather is so nice. It’s been an interesting time for me being here getting to know my coworkers better and experiencing a different type of lifestyle.
  • Weddings: Both my sister, one of my bridesmaids Cheryl, and my old high school friend Hong all got married this year. Now I can’t wait for my own!
  • House searching: Boyrobot and I spent many weekends looking for our future house. Hopefully by next year we’ll purchase our dream house.
  • Iphone: Ok, I’m sorry but I just have to mention this ha ha. Seriously, this is the best gadget I’ve ever owned and it’s made an impact on my life. gosh, I’m such a nerd haha.
  • Moving…twice: It sure was nice living in a multimillion dollar house (thanks Andy and Kim!!) but now I’ve moved on to a new residence. Which leads me to 2009….

Things to look forward to in 2009:

  • Getting married!!! <3
  • Buying a house…hopefully!!

I think those 2 alone are enough to keep me busy. :)

I’m not sure what the real estate market is like down where you are, but you might want to look into lease-to-own. My aunt is a realtor and she mentioned it as a lesser-known “trick” for getting into a house when you don’t quite enough saved up. You have to negotiate carefully to make sure most, if not all, of your rent goes towards the down payment.

People are desperate to recover some money from their houses so you can take advantage. You also get to try the house out first to make sure you like it.

Toronto was a lot of fun, now that we can look back and laugh at all of the fiascoes. I’m excited for the bachelorette party! :)
