Maybe it’s because of Thanksgiving but I’m in the mood for some sweet potato fries!! I’ve had them twice. Once at Cafe 50s and another time at Cobras & Matadors. Both times were soooo yummy. I love french fries in general though. :)

I think I will try and make these sometime soon. And don’t feel guilty, they are much healthier than regular fries!

INGREDIENTS
6 sweet potatoes, cut into French fries
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons taco seasoning mix or any other type of seasoning you’d like
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
In a plastic bag, combine the sweet potatoes, olive oil, taco seasoning, and cayenne pepper. Close and shake the bag until the fries are evenly coated. Spray the pan with cooking spray and spread the fries out in a single layer.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until crispy and brown on one side. Turn the fries over using a spatula, and cook for another 30 minutes, or until they are all crispy on the outside and tender inside. Thinner fries may not take as long.

There’s a cool new greetings website out that uses pictures from google maps to spell out your message. Pretty creative.

It’s called geogreetings. I wonder how long it took for him to find all of the letters!

This is kind of cool. It’s a template for a paper case for the ipod nano. It won’t do much for protection but it sure looks pretty!

I recently got in on a hot hotel deal for Vegas. While I was browsing other Vegas deals to make sure I did in fact get the best price I came across this fatwallet thread which is really helpful if you are booking a trip to Vegas. They list ongoing promo deals for all of the major hotels in Vegas. Unfortunately, I noticed that most of the deals are for the weekdays which sucks if you are a working person like myself. Luckily, I got in on a weekend deal which is why it was so hot I guess! Of course, I intend on making all of my money back in Vegas anyways… ha ha.

An Inconvenient Truth

This is the movie Al Gore made about global warming. There are some very surprising statistics in it that you may not know about. After watching the movie, I am much more conscious about recycling and the environment.

Here are some easy tips to help the environment that anyone can do easily:

If your electronics are plugged into a power strip, try turning it off when not in use since electronics in “standby” mode still use a small amount of energy.

Unplug any chargers and battery docks that are connected to the outlet but you are not using anymore. (I need to do that!)

Replace incandescent and halogen bulbs with a compact flourescent light (CFL). These are initially more expensive but actually save you money in the long run and are so much more environmentally friendly! So next time look for these when you are shopping for new light bulbs.

When buying appliances, look for the EPA’s Energy Star Label. These will also save you money in the long run!

I know it doesn’t seem like much but if everyone did it, it does make a difference! If you make these things a habit, you could end up influencing others or even your future kids to practice environmentally friendly habits. I will have to admit I’m not a super green/environmentally friendly person or anything but I think these small acts are not that much work to do and if it helps Earth…why not!

Ahhh, I’ve been seeing so much cute stuff lately!

First there’s Old Navy. They are selling robot stuff! I saw the CUTEST robot wrapping paper, aprons, notepads, and even boxers!! I looked high and low for some pajama pants but they didnt’ have any of those :(

And today, my roommate showed me this. It’s a Cereal On The Go container!! It will keep your milk cold and separate from your cereal so it doesn’t get soggy.

Bens Bargains created a Wii tracker that tells you when a Wii is in stock at what online store. Pretty cool. You can also subscribe to their Feed. Checking the page shows that they are all sold out but I hear there is supposed to be more in stock next week. I’m sure it won’t be a problem to get one for xmas.

I wonder if there’s an Elmo TMX tracker haha.

* Since writing this entry, I made it and it was pretty good. It was extremely easy and cheap to make as well! The only change I made was I used less butter. I think I ended up using 1 or 2 Tbsp, I forget.

I found a super easy recipe to make for the Thanksgiving Potluck I am going to today. I have never made it so I can’t vouch for it but it has rave reviews on allRecipes. So if you are looking for an easy recipe to cook this year for a potluck, try this one!

Cornbread Casserole

INGREDIENTS
1/4 pound butter, melted
1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn (drained)
1 (15 ounce) can creamed corn
1 (8.5 ounce) package corn bread mix
1 ounce sour cream
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a mixing bowl, combine butter, whole corn, cream corn, corn muffin mix and sour cream. Fold all ingredients together, pour into 2 quart casserole dish. Bake for 1 hour.

Tina Fey was on Howard Stern recently and he asked her about working with Paris Hilton.

Howard Stern: What is Paris Hilton like?

Tina Fey: She’s a piece of ******. The people at SNL were like maybe she’ll be fun, maybe she won’t take herself so seriously. She takes herself so seriously! She’s unbelievably dumb and so proud of how dumb she is. She looks like a tranny up close.

Howard Stern: Was she bad on SNL, was she hard to deal with?

Tina Fey: She was awful. People never come in and say “I’m not doing that.” So, this guy Jim Downey wrote a really really funny sketch, it was supposed to be Lorne Michaels just finding out that she had a sex tape and telling her she couldn’t host the show because SNL has standards… So she was like “I’m not doing it!” and refused to come out of her dressing room. Also, you would walk down the hall and find what just looked like nasty wads of Barbie hair on the stairs… Her hair is like a Fraggle.

Howard Stern: Did she give you ideas for sketches?

Tina Fey: Yeah, she wanted to make fun of all the girls she hates. She was like “I want to play Jessica Simpson, I hate her.” She would come in the room and say “you should do a show about Jessica Simpson because she’s fat.”

Howard Stern: What was the bet you guys had going about her?

Tina Fey: The cast had a bet if she would ask anyone on the cast anything about themselves, you know like how are you? where are you from? anything. I think Seth Meyers won because at one point, she asked him if Maya Rudolf was Italian.

Tina Fey is awesome.

I’m sure everyone has heard by now, but for those that haven’t…Amazon will be selling the Xbox 360 for $100 on Thanksgiving Day. It’s part of their new promotion called Amazon Customers Vote where the customers get to choose which item goes on sale each week. Of course Xbox is winning this week by a landslide, one of the items competing is a Barbie Doll haha.
