Wow, it’s been awhile since I did a Friday Links post. Forgive me but every time I thought to do one, it wasn’t Friday! I just barely remembered tonight before I head to bed (crazy work schedule that has me waking up at 3am…blegh!)

I sympathize with Mr. Adam’s goals, and agree that a huge amount of damage results in the way the current political party system is structured. I also loathe both of the parties (though certainly one far more than the other), and the concept of destroying them certainly seems like a wonderful catharsis if nothing else. But they do also serve good purposes, such as allowing people to have a broad idea of what most or all of their member politicians support.
I am a huge political beast, but even I, the great Hakushaku, can’t possibly follow the races for local Supervisor or Board of Education, or what have you. If we had no parties of any kind, the only vetting would be done for major candidates, while all of the lesser (but important on a local level) candidates would be chosen by random madmen.
And without party funding, the ONLY people you would ever hear of would be the richest people, the Fiorinas or (god help us) the Whitmans. So I think it is a baby and bathwater situation.
But what do I know, I apparently have the body of a 60 year old chain smoker. What sets me apart from the rest of the gamers, though, is that I also LOOK like one.
As for the Phone Sex operators………hotness. That’s why you pay so much for those phone calls, you are paying per pound.
