Another Reason To Stop Eating HFCS
We’ve all heard about high fructose corn syrup being bad but now they’ve also found out that it contains mercury!
I’ve really been trying to cut back on HFCS, including my beloved COKE, but it’s so hard since that stuff is in almost everything. Check out this list. Yes, I pretty much eat everything off that list.
And there’s also the fast food list. What, I’m supposed to eat my chicken mcnuggets plain?! ugh.
Anyways, just a reminder to read your labels and eat smarter and healthier! (this means you too boyrobot! :P)

You shouldn’t eat HFCS because you shouldn’t support corn-dominated agriculture. I know I’ll sound like an Omnivore’s Dilemma disciple, but HFCS was developed to take advantage of surplus corn because corn subsidies were changed to encourage farmers to grow more corn. You should avoid eating the McNuggets in general because they’re made from chicken that most likely ate nothing but corn and they’re fried in corn oil, blah blah blah. It’s crazy how the food industry is trying to adapt animals (and salmon) to tolerate more and more corn.
It’s funny how you mention Coke. Have you ever had Coke in another country? It tastes much, much better because they use real ingredients like sugar. American Coke is more of an industrial chemical than an actual beverage.

Yeah, don’t buy farm raised salmon. You might as well get an ear of corn. Wild salmon is high in omega-3, but the farm raised ones aren’t.
Buy as naturally as you can. That doesn’t mean organic because “organic” is just a bullshit label now. Try to find a real butcher shop that has local animals that were never given antibiotics, only eat what they would’ve eaten 200 years ago and you’ll be much better off. It usually doesn’t cost that much more and tastes 10x better.

As much as I despise those scummy pro-HFCS propaganda ads you see on TV all the time now (“Check the facts, you’re in for a sweet surprise!” Yeah, diabetes and fat-ass kids! Surprise!), I do find this study a bit questionable, since no where in the study does it say how much mercury is found. Maybe its 1 part per trillion, for all I know.
Hell there is a certain amount of allotted spider eggs allowed in shipments of produce, that doesn’t mean I can justify calling every can of peas a hive of vermin.
If you’re Coca Cola is tinted silver, however, and occasionally transforms from a liquid into a solid…..that could be a problem.
