Just got back from Vegas and I am soooo tired! As always, it was a lot of fun though. The theme of this year’s trip seems to be FOOD though. I ate so much. Seriously, this week I’m going to have to detox to make up for it! ha, just kidding….I love food too much.
Every place we ate at was excellent. Here’s two that come highly recommended:
Sushi Mon – my hs friend who now lives near Las Vegas met up with us for dinner at this all you can eat sushi place. the fish was fresh and so yummy. the menu also had so much selection!! i loved how everything was made after you ordered. it’s not like todai where the fish has been sitting there all day. i don’t think i’ve ever been so stuffed! it literally hurt after that meal. but it was yummy :)
Buchon – ok, so i’ve mentioned before on my blog that one of my to do things before i die is to eat at the french laundry! well this was the next best thing….buchon is also owned by thomas keller. the waitress joked that this restaurant was created so the chefs at the french laundry would have some place to eat after work. ha ha. the service and food was great! they served really good bread and gave us some smoked salmon spread on the house to hold us over until the food was ready (all of the food is cooked to order and usually takes 45 minutes to make). IT WAS YUM! I ordered the veal breast. It was very tender and tasty. Other favorites from the group were the duck, mac n cheese, and even the flatiron steak got good reviews! next time i’m in vegas, I will have to stop by the buchon bakery for a pastry!
We also got to see the cirque de soleil show O at the bellagio. this is their water show. after all of the hype (“this is the best one out of all of the shows”) I was kind of disappointed. it was still very good and entertaining but I think I might like mystere better. one thing I do know is that I’m a total fan of cirque shows and highly recommend them to everyone! I think the next time my parents go to vegas I am going to treat them to a show. It’s amazing what the human body can do and the whole show always has such a magical and fantasy-like quality to it. Love it!!!
As for the gambling aspect of the trip, it wasn’t so great. I’m down $50 bucks. I won some money playing pai gow but then I lost it all playing poker. Can you believe I lost $100 after TWO hands in poker? ugh!!! sometimes playing poker is so frustrating. You can play correctly but still lose. :( Oh well…better luck next time!
ps. sorry for the crappy pics…they were all taken with my iphone with these weird settings from camerabag hehe
