Girl Post: Best Shampoo Suggestions

So I took this GenderAnalyzer test which analyzes your blog and tells you if a man or woman writes it. For some reason I’m 59% man!! I think because I try to stray away from girlie topics because I don’t want to alienate my male readers. I actually have a whole section of health and beauty bookmarks to blog about so excuse any males reading my blog today…it’s time for a girlie post!!! (but guys feel free to read if you care about your hair too! hehe)

Now that it’s winter….my hair has become increasingly dry. So I’ve started looking for a new shampoo to use. I ran across this article by TotalBeauty: Readers’ Picks For Best Hair Shampoo

Here are some of the top picks:

Aveda Damage Remedy Structuring Shampoo, $24 – good for damaged hair
Pantene True Confidence Anti-Dandruff 2-in1 Shampoo + Conditioner, $7.99 – I had no idea Pantene makes anti-dandruff shampoo!
Redken Real Control Shampoo, $10 – all hair types, makes hair shiny
Dove Advanced Color Care Shampoo for Lightened Hair, $5.65 – I really like Dove’s line of hair care products. I haven’t tried this one since I don’t have lightened hair but if it’s like their other stuff…it’ll be great.
Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo, $15.99 – good for dry and itchy scalp. doesn’t anything with tea tree in it sound like it’s going to do wonders to your hair??
Nature’s Gate Jojoba Revitalizing Shampoo for Damaged Hair, $4.21 – another dry and itchy scalp shampoo
Samy Moist Shampoo, $5.99 – for dry hair at a cheap price!
Biolage Bodifying Shampoo, $14 – a volumizing shampoo that actually sounds like it works
Nexxus Sleekstress Sumptuous Smoothing Shampoo, $8.99 – I’ve actually tried this shampoo and the conditioner and I LOVE IT.
Sunsilk ThermaShine Shampoo, $4.49 – another good, classic brand

Be sure to read the article if you color your hair or have curly hair since they have some great suggestions that I didn’t link to.

What’s your favorite shampoo? Any suggestions/recommendations out there? Whenever I travel for work they pay for my toiletries including shampoo and conditioner so I always try to buy something I wouldn’t normally buy (ie. something pricy!) so I’ll definitely be trying out some new stuff when I travel in a few weeks!

A Few Cat Videos

Who knew cats could be so amusing!

This one is awesome…ninja cat:

Cat vs. Box – I love when he runs into the table

Brain Dump Mondays: Best iPhone Apps

Yup…I’ve finally converted to the iphone. Seems like everywhere you look, everybody has an iPhone and now I’m one of those people! Oh well.. I have to admit though that after playing with it for a few days, I’m totally loving it. It really is as cool as everyone is saying!! Of course the biggest complaint is the keyboard (I had the sidekick before which was a phone texter’s dream) but I have to admit that everything else you get makes up for it. It’s very annoying for me to type on the iPhone but I spend more type flipping and reading with the iPhone now anyways. Now onto my iPhone mods and apps that I’ve dled.

First off, I changed my wallpaper to this:

Seriously, it makes me smile every time I turn on my phone now!! hehe.

Oh and I saw Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist on Friday (cute movie!!) and totally fell in love with Nick’s ringtone. He was using The Cure’s Boys Don’t Cry…so I instantly knew I had to get it as my ringtone too!!! heheh.

Create free ringtones using Itunes 8

This makes me so happy because I could never get free ringtones with my old phone!

Apps I recommend (All free!):

Aim – a must for me… aim functionality on your phone
WordPress – I’m excited to try this out…blogging on my phone! I’ve read great reviews though.
Movies by Flixster – Find movie showtimes, read reviews, and watch trailers…great for movie buffs like boyrobot and I
Yelp – I like to read reviews of places before I eat somewhere
Facebook – I’m a facebook addict so I had to have this. Too bad you can’t access all of the features like facebook apps
Pandora Radio – Put in a song or artist you like and Pandora will start playing a personalized radio based on your taste. Pretty sweet.
CheckPlease – A tip calculator with a few features that beat out the others I read about. Very handy for eating out.
EasyWriter – This app lets you write your emails in landscape mode
Evernote – let’s you do voice notes, text notes, and even picture notes! They are all searchable too. There’s some crazy things you can do with this app. It’s awesome.

Games: I didn’t think playing games on the iPhone would be that great but these were pretty fun

Trace – this game is SO addicting. It’s hard to explain but you draw lines to move your character from start to finish. Believe me it’s fun!
Dots Free – I used to play this game on paper. It’s the one where you draw sides of a square and if you draw a complete square you get a point.
Tap Tap Revenge – It’s like guitar hero for your iphone!

I’m just amazed at the amount of apps you can dl for the iPhone. It truly makes the phone’s capabilities seem limitless. I never thought I could have so much fun with my cellphone! Please tell me if you have any apps you can recommend, free or not!

Mom: what do you mean by food coma?
[Voicemail received 30 seconds later:]

Brain Dump Mondays: Bettering Myself

Eat more greens – I think I need to start eating more salads at lunch.

Exercise – a constant on my list. I stopped walking the stairs at work…gonna start that up again!

take care of my skin – my sister bought me one of these dermalogica skin care kits and she highly recommends it. I really need to start a daily skin care regimen now that I’m getting all old and stuff. :(

volunteering – for the past year I didn’t do any volunteering. I am thinking about joining Reading Partners since I love kids, reading, and there is a school right by my work! Any other fun volunteering activites out there?

learn a new skill – I haven’t decided what this is yet. I do want to learn embossing though and play around with some designs for my wedding programs!

get more involved with politics – this last election really excited a lot of people including me. before I didn’t care about politics because I didn’t feel like it affected me that much. Now I see how important voting is, especially when it comes to these propositions! I want to be more knowledgable about issues that are being voted on so that I can make a more informed decision on how I vote. I also want to know more about these elected officials that are supposed to represent me.
