Human Planet: The Douche
Among the progressive, forward thinking citizens there stands a great cancer, a type of human that has not evolved like the rest of the race….the Douche.

ADORABLE.
An inquisitive beluga whale ends up with a squashed nose as it tries to get closer to visitors at an aquarium. The curious creature swam straight at the glass when he spotted people watching him from the other side, flattening his nose and chin as he struggled to get a better look. The sight was captured by photographer Nicole Perkins at an aquarium in Connecticut, USA. Picture: Nicole Perkins/solent

For awhile now, our bathtub was draining slower and slower. I figured it was my hair (I shed a lot :() so every once in awhile we would buy some drain-o which worked, but it wouldn’t be long before it was slow again. We weren’t too happy having to use something so toxic so often so I looked into getting a drain snake. I checked out the plumbing section at Walmart and ended up getting this!
Cobra Products 400 Zip-It Drain Cleaning Tool
It was only a couple of dollars….cheaper than getting a snake which I wasn’t even sure was going to work so I thought it was worth a shot. Turns out it worked and now our drain is super fast flowing (yay!). So of course, when I come across a product I really like…I have to share it with you guys :) For all of you that suffer from slow drains caused by your shedding hair…this is great! Check out some of these photos (or maybe not if you have a weak stomach haha) from their website from other customer testimonials.
FYI, this product is touted as a one-time use product and is not super long so if your clog is deep or u run into this problem a lot, it’s probably worth it to invest in a snake drain.

For people wondering about my 28-day challenge, the first half of the week went really well. But then it kind of got ruined with the St. Patrick’s Day potluck we had at work that I forgot about ha ha.

Once again, I’m totally addicted to trying things that are supposed to change my life and make me a better person. In other words, following an outlined plan that involves eating really crappy food and doing exercises that totally suck. ha ha.
I started on this because I read about Bon Apetit’s “foodie detox” through notmartha. Detoxes are all the rage right now…all of the movie stars do it! hehe. But after reading the reviews about it, I decided not to do it (the food took too long to make and was actually really bad, I could stand one or the other but not both!). Doing more research led me to Martha Stewart’s 28 Day Challenge! They provide day by day steps for “changing your life” and also recipes to help you detox. Most of the food just cuts out all of the bad stuff and common allergens. I haven’t checked out all of the exercises but week 1 is mostly yoga poses and walking (I can def handle that!). I am interested in trying the recipes…I even found some that boyrobot wouldn’t mind eating.
Another part of the 28 day challenge is to give up “media”. I decided to not go on the internet when I get home from work and instead work on a lot of projects that I have on my to do list. Some for fun and some for the house. And actually I’d like to do some deep cleaning around the house! It will be really interesting to try this because for as long as I remember, I have been an internet addict when I am at home and it’s sucked up a lot of my time. I am just going to try this for the first week and see how it goes. I will miss you internet!
If you’re interested check out their website and sign up for their newsletter.
Anyways, I will check in next week and tell you how week 1 went!

Since buying the house, I was pretty worried with how clean boyrobot and I would keep the place since we’re not the neatest people :P But for the most part, we’ve done a pretty decent job I think. But as time goes by, I feel like we are slipping a bit. For instance, we sweep and vacuum the floors a bit less frequently than when we first moved in :P
And now that I’ve been cooking a lot more, it’s been a struggle to keep the best kitchen knives as tidy as I’d like. So that’s why I was so excited to see Curbly’s new Clean Kitchen Check List & Cheat Sheet!! You can’t view the full version unless you sign up for their newsletter or like them on Facebook so I’ll just outline it here and you can decide for yourself if it’s worth signing up for. I think it is!
It covers all the different parts of the kitchen: fridge, oven/stovetop, microwave, coffee maker, toaster (oven), sink, and floors.
It also tells you what should be cleaned daily, weekly, and monthly and tips on cleaning each item! For example, to clean the microwave put a bowl of vinegar and water in the microwave, cook on high for 3 minutes, and wipe down with a clean cloth!
I like that the cheat sheet breaks everything down for you and makes it feel “do-able”. Also, I just like checklists hehe!
Anyways, I hope I keep up with this and I can’t wait to see their guides for the rest of the house.

One of the biggest annoyances in life for me is to subscribe to an RSS feed and discover that the blog does not offer a FULL feed. 90% of the time I immediately unsubscribe. Sometimes there’s just a really good blog that I have to read and I make the exception, begrudgingly though. Well there’s now a way to extract the full feeds from all RSS feeds. Yay! Just enter in the blog RSS URL here and it will spit out a new url you can add to your RSS reader that will display the full feed.
I am very happy right now !!

The story of Ray Towler is fascinating and completely heartbreaking:
DNA evidence releases man from life in prison after almost 30 years
It makes me feel thankful for everything. for the little things especially. even for having a job to go to.
And it reinforces my stance on the death penalty. This exact same scenario has happened to people who were sentenced to death! I am wholeheartedly against the death penalty.
Lastly, I wonder how the four people felt when they realized their mistaken testimonies wasted an innocent man’s life in prison. It’s sad that things like this happen and even sadder it took him so long to get out despite having the proof years before he was actually released.

In case you haven’t heard of Human Planet, it is by the same people (BBC) who brought you The Blue Planet, Planet Earth, and Life. This time they are focusing on human beings. It is currently being shown in the UK and will be released internationally later on. I can’t wait!!
