Does This Girl Ever Close Her Mouth?

I ran across this link and it just made me lol. You can imagine what the comments are going to lead to…

Check out the full set here.

Also, people always ask me how I find all of these links. I surf the web…a lot. But now I don’t have to feel bad about it because surfing the internet makes me smarter!

Scientists at the UCLA Semel Institute Memory & Aging Center have found that using the Internet increases neural activity in the brain – and triggers key centers in control decision-making and complex reasoning. The findings demonstrate that a good surf through the net may improve brain function.

YES. Nobel Prize here I come.

Healthy Diets And Exercise Links

With all of these talks about losing weight and a resurgence of unhealthy methods of weight loss including detox, cabbage diet, and the apple cider vinegar diet, I thought I’d reiterate this list I came across the other day of the 10 healthiest diets. By the way, the aforementioned are just cover-ups to just not really eat…(ahem anorexia anyone?). And I can’t believe the hype that detox has been getting especially from the stars. If starving yourself doesn’t sound healthy…it’s because it’s not. At least there has been no scientific proof it offers any health benefits!

So here are a list of the top 10 healthiest diets:
The Structure House Weight Loss Plan by Gerald J. Musante, PhD.
The Step Diet by the University of Colorado
Weight Watchers
The Eating Well Diet by Jean Harvey Berino, PhD, RD
Volumetrics by Barbara Rolls, PhD
Best Life Diet by Bob Greene
The Solution by Maurel Mellin, MA, RD
You on a Diet by Dr. Oz
The Sonoma Diet by Connie Gutterson, PhD, RD
Spectrum by Dean Ornish, MD

And for the people who especially struggle with belly fat, here are 5 secrets to help you lose it.

I’ve also been hearing a lot of good things about this exercise video called 30 day shred by Jillian Michaels (Yes, she is the girl from the Biggest Loser). People seem to like the video because the exercises are 20 mins each so it’s great for busy people. There are 3 levels but I hear even the beginner is tough.

Lastly, here’s a link for a 7 day bootcamp by Sparkpeople. It includes a video for each day. I did the first one and it was really fun and easy to follow. I was even able to do it in my hotel room which was nice!

PS. This is totally off topic but eeeeeeeeeeee! Lost returns tonight….I can’t wait!!!!

Ok No More Bush Jokes After This

Who Is Boxxy??

Geez…this girl is just plain weird/crazy/annoying and now she is being toted as the first MEME of 2009. Like all popular memes, you just have to ask yourself IS THIS FOR REAL??? She’s this teen girl that started making videos for some of her friends on some game called Gaia and then those videos got posted on 4chan. And now she’s being made fun of/talked about all over the net.

To get a taste of what she’s all about, check out her latest video message “foar everywun”

Top Media Of 2008

The Hype Machine released their top 50 artist, albums, and songs of 2008. If you’ve never heard of The Hype Machine it’s basically a website that tracks music bloggers. So these are the music most blogged about, searched for, or discussed on the internet.

Here’s a link to DVD Beaver’s top blu-rays of the year. Godfather and Wall-E made the top two spots but the others were surprising to me!

And lastly, here are the 19 best movies you didn’t see. I love these lists because I know there are some great movies out there that I missed. I really like the movies on this list that I did see so I’m anxious to see the other ones!

DIY Calendars

I still can’t get over the fact that it’s 2009. If you’re still in need of a calendar for the year…here are two free calendars…one you just download and print and the other requires a little more work!

This super cute desk calendar is free from Blackpio. It’s so cute I can’t believe it’s free. As soon as I have access to a color printer I am so printing this out and putting it on my desk at work.

You can download it here.

The next one is a perpetual calendar.

What you do is take pictures of numbers 1-31 and also the days of the week and you hang it using photo clips. Every month you just change the numbers around to fit the month. I am SO doing this for my future house!! You can read more detailed instructions here at Photojojo.

Brain Dump Mondays: Picture Dump

I’ve been meaning to post these pictures and then I never did and now I just have a bunch to post about. These were taken with my iPhone which I love having cuz now I snap random pictures all of the time! I was always too lazy to lug around a real digital camera before.

Some of these have weird photo effects because I was playing around with this app called camerabag so sorry if it looks weird!

I snapped this on my way to work. I absolutely LOVE my drive to work. I’m currently in a pretty small town so there’s NO traffic and I just use cruise control practically the whole way there. With the beautiful scenery (hello ocean view!), it’s a pretty relaxing and peaceful way to start the morning.

This is one of my nephews from when I visited over christmas break. He is the cutest little thing and totally into pajamas right now. I love his matching hat! I had a hard time getting a picture of him though because he refused to stand still! I barely was able to get this one.

While on one of my flights this month, I honestly forget which one…I looked out my window and saw this amazing view of the clouds. I quickly snapped a photo!

One of my flights, I flew first class and had the most AMAZING dining experience ever!!!! This was the dessert, cookie dough ice cream topped with honey crisps on a bed of peach puree. Normally this would be too sweet for me, but for some reason it was sooo delish. I ate the whole thing! The rest of the meal was just as good.

A couple more food pictures…this one is from a korean soontofu place near where we live. I forget the name because it’s in korean. There’s nothing more comforting than eating soontofu on a cold day!

This is from our meal at Breakfast in the Park in Huntington Beach. I like how the restaurant really is in the middle of the park and I love how there’s tons of birds/geese hanging around outside that you can feed. We fed them some of our leftover toast!

This is from a restaurant I go to while I’m in Florida called the Shark Pit. It’s cool because they have a real live shark tank in the restaurant. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a picture of the sharks because they kept swimming by so fast so all you get is this tank. By the way, if you ever eat here the shrimp scampi pizza is divine.

Yes, some of these pictures are very old including this one from when I went shopping at Millenia Mall in Orlando before Christmas. It’s probably the nicest mall they have here. It reminds me of Southcoast Plaza but smaller. Their Forever 21 store is awesome though…for some reason whenever I go there I get some amazing finds.

So those are some of my adventures in the past month! Unfortunately the really cool stuff I’ve been doing I can’t take pictures of.

The Invisible Rope

I’d never heard of this prank before visiting this website, The Invisible Rope:

The Invisible Rope is an age old prank that gives the illusion that there is a rope being held, when in reality there is nothing there. It requires two people (one at each side of the street) acting as if they are pulling a rope. The prank is meant to be used on cars; however, we at TheInvisibleRope.com have used the rope in other aspects of life, for your entertainment

Their christmas video is pretty funny, especially when they go in the mall. I love when those two guys do a running jump to hop over the “string”.
