Migraine Remedies

Lucky for me, I don’t suffer from migraines but I know a few people who do. My sister, offered this great tip for anyone who suffers from a migraine. It worked within an hour for boyrobot who had a migraine for almost 3 days! Her tip?

Take Motrin IB, lay down, and try to nap for at least 30 minutes

Pretty simple, huh? I guess the most important part is to not waste your time with the other pills like Tylenol or Advil which don’t seem to work well against migraines. Tell me if it worked for you or if you have tips for curing a migraine!

My partner has migraines often. Your advice works for her, dark room, shut eyes, lay down, pain meds.(whichever work for ya, everybody is different.)Aspirin works for my occasional MS no-pain migraines.

Similar advice, except I use Extra Strength Excedrin. You’re right – tylenol and advil alone don’t do anything for my migraines. Another trick that works is taking the Excedrin (or Motrin or whatever) as soon as you start to feel the migraine coming on; seems to work better that way.

(Btw, found you through Fran’s blog: http://www.qwoc.blogspot.com/)

Hmm… A double-dose of advil, taken with a strong cup of coffee, followed by a nap, is often enough to bring me out of terrible migraines.

My doctor wants to put me on Imitrex or Ralpaks (?) but I’m very happy with my ‘home remedy.’ The caffeine helps the vasculature of your brain, the Advil is a great analgesic, and the nap gives the meds / caffeine time to work, as well as giving you a little bit of energy back..
