Brain Dump Mondays: How To Plan A Trip To DC!

Yeahhhhh, I’m going to Washington DC on Wednesday and I can’t wait! I’ve been there once, but I honestly don’t remember very much. I can’t wait to see all of the famous monuments and eat yummy food. The best part is this trip isn’t going to cost us (me and boyrobot) very much at all!

For the airplane tickets, we got in on such a hot deal. The new Virgin America airlines had a sale where their tickets were buy 1 get 1 free. We scored roundtrip tickets for less than $140 each!!! Does it get any better than that?

For the hotel, we used Priceline. Here’s a guide on how to use Priceline effectively which outlines the method we used. We basically looked up the prices for the area we want to stay in and then bid about $10 cheaper than the latest winning prices. We didn’t expect to get it but we ended up scoring a 4 star hotel for only $75 in a GREAT location (Dupont Circle). We are within 5 minutes from a major subway stop!

Also, pretty much all of the major sightseeing points are free: the monuments, tons of museums (I can’t wait to check out the Smithsonian!), the zoo, and there is even a free daily performance at the Kennedy Center every evening.

For food, we usually do splurge and eat at nice places but for the most part, we take advantage of CHEAP EATS! Is it just me or do the highly rated cheap eats sometimes taste better than the food you pay for that costs 10 times as much??

So yeah, that’s how to plan a trip to DC! Hopefully, I’ll have some cool pics to share with you all when I get back next week. In the meantime, if you’ve been to DC…any food/places to recommend?
